As the weather gets colder, it is important to make sure your vehicle is properly serviced and ready for winter! Remember to get all the necessary fluids changed and topped off as well as the brake inspected. Most importantly, be sure to use the correct tires as the seasons change! Summer and all season tires will not perform optimally as temperatures get lower. HKS +Greddy + Evo X = Happy Customer

A customer recently ordered and installed several JDM parts for his brand new Lancer Evolution. The stock vehicle was too tame for his taste! Coming from a fully modified GDB STi he couldn’t wait to put a few goodies on.  However, this time around he wanted something more comfortable but still fun to drive daily.  He selected the Greddy SE cat back exhaust, along with HKS Intercooler Piping and the new HKS SSQV IV BOV.  All were great choices into making his perfect daily driver! Stay tuned as we follow this Evo in its journey.

 

Better Service!! Better Hours!!

At Speedstar our goal is to deliver our customer the quality and care they deserve.   And for those who don’t realize, we work on vehicle from basic maintainece to race prep, and on top of our infamous pit mounted laser alignment, we now offers extensive service packages such as vehicle vinyl service, window tinting and professional detailing.  On top of our new offerings, we had also expanded our service hours and open on Sunday from 11:00am – 5:00pm for customer’s convenience!!  Busy scheduling is no longer and option for you!!

New Tire Mounting Machine

Nowadays mounting and balancing could be a really sophiscated job, as you don’t want to bring your beloved vehicle to somewhere which you do not know how your wheels are going to be treated.  At Speedstar we always aim for perfection, those who’ve visit us before might probably know we’ve got the well known Hunter Mounting machine, but this time in addition we decided to raise the bar and brought in a new mounting machine from Hunters.  You may ask what makes this machine so special?  This new Hunter Mounting equipment features a totally new concept, all mounting procedures are pretty much automatic by a press of few buttons.  Even the tires would be loaded in place by the machine itself, this machine could also accomodate much larger wheel size up to 24 inch.  What is also worth mentioning is that no metal will contact the wheel while tires are being mounted or dismounted.  There are also few other tricks up its sleeves to mount certain fitment of tires such as commonly know as “stretch” tires.   

Honda CR-Z: The Hybrid Tuner Revolution

For those of us who have been following import cars and sport compacts tuning scene, high power, gas drinking, big turbo cars are the norm. We have come to expect and accept the poor gas mileage and frequent stops at the pump associated with most of our favorite tuner cars. You gotta pay to play and the gas pump is no exception. In this day and age where gas prices soar and fluctuate everyday Honda comes to our rescue with the new CR-Z! The spiritual successor of the greatly loved and sorely missed CR-X of old. This little puppy gets a combined fuel economy of 5.3 L/100Km with the CVT transmission and 6.0 L/100Km for the manual version. People were skeptical at first about the CR-Z and truth be told even a few of us at Speedstar were doubtful about it. However, its grown on everyone and there are already a number of mods available for this car. From simple things like intakes and suspension to more committed mods like full body kits and superchargers! The latter of which may slightly decrease your CR-Z’s fuel economy

It’s about time for some changes!

It’s been a few years since we’ve last revised our outfit for work.  Ever since we’ve relocated to the new facility we’ve always been thinking about getting some new uniforms made.  However we didn’t get a chance to look for something that is fashionable yet subtle enough for us to wear everyday.  Untill recently we’ve finally found some clean and professional looking shirt sets from H&M.  I just couldn’t help it but to take a picture of it before we sent it out to have logo made.  Stay tuned, hopefully the new uniform will look impressive.

1st Annual Impreza X Lancer Speedstar Day!!!

On July 24th the car world was turned upside down at Speedstar as we hosted our first annual Impreza/Lancer crossover meet! These two groups that normally consider each other rivals met up in harmony and came out together in full force. The combined turn out from TSC (Toronto Subaru Club), TEN ( Toronto Evo Network), and TLC (Toronto Lancer Club) added up to over 90 attendees and a parking lot jammed full of mean rides.  As with most of our Speedstar meets we had great food courtesy of our Speedstar BBQ Grill and of course the main attraction the Work Wheel Raffle. The lucky winner of the Impreza Draw got a set of great Work  Emotion XD 9 18×9.0 +43 in MHG. The winner of the Lancer Draw got some Work Emotion 11R 18×9.5 +20 in GTSRC. Both winners will be the envy of others for getting such nice wheels! In addition to all this TSC also brought out their event tent and provided us with come great shade from the burning sun.  Let’s move on to the pictures!

Speedstar S2KI S2000 Day!

On July 17th we had our annual Speedstar day! The weather was a bit on the warm side however the sunshine was amazing. We had an excellent turn out of over 70 S2000′s. In addition to our usual BBQ we also had some great pizza delivered from Downtown!  Members drove in from all over Ontario and even a few turn outs from Quebec and Alberta. Needless to say the cars that came out were decked out and gorgeous to behold. Let’s forget the chit chat and let the pictures speak for themselves!

1st Track Day of 2011: Speedstar Team goes to DDT!!!

On July 3rd the Speedstar Team went out for our first track day of the year at Mosport DDT! Everyone had a great time and several of our customers came out to join us.  As usual Albert was blistering fast around DDT but Frank is starting to catch up!  SS Evo also got its first taste of the track, but will need lots of practice before it can start keeping up with Albert and Frank. We all drove to our hearts content, but of course safety first!

E90Post BMW Speedstar Day 2011 !!

Woohoo…once again our BWM E90 Speedstar Day had came to a great success.  It was great to see so many old friends as well as many new faces, and I would like to thank everyone who showed up.  Also hats off to John for being Speedstar Iron Chef and Benson for organizing.   Even though weather isn’t what we’ve quite anticipated for meet, but everyone had lots of fun.  Get to know each other and a chance to taste John’s juicy burgers!
